Basics

Senses

True dragons possess extraordinary perception:

  • low-light vision x4
  • scent
  • blindsense (out to Agesq)
  • magicsense (out to a number of squares equal to ½ Age)
  • telescopic sight (Spot check penalties accrue at increments of squares equal to twice Age)


Resistances

True dragons enjoy protection from many hazards:

  • advantage on saves against sleep & the status from their breath weapon
  • Resist Paralysis (9 + Age)
  • Spell Resistance
  • can breath water, & can hold their breath for up to 4x Constitution rounds
  • Resistance 50 (against the damage type of their breath weapon)
  • Evasion (5 points per Age)
  • Vigor (2 points per Age)
  • Damage reduction (see the Age progression)
  • Energy Shield (close quarters melee attackers take 3 damage per Age, as breath weapon)


Breath weapons

Each true dragon has 2 breath weapons; a damaging breath, & a status breath. Whenever the dragon uses either breath weapon, it cannot use that breath for 1d4 rounds. Each damaging breath has Reflex ½ (DC 10+½HD+Con); each status breath has Will negates (DC 10+½HD+Cha). A status lasts Age rounds. Damage is 3d10 per Age for cold, electricity, & fire, or 3d4 per Age for acid, negative, & sonic.

Spellcasting

Wyrmlings can cast spells as a level 1 Sorcerer. The dragon increases their effective Sorcerer level by 2 for each additional Age gained.

Age Progression

Attaining each age category takes roughly that many centuries. At this time, the dragon must retreat to a secluded location to molt, which occurs over a period of 1d4 months. During molting, it is common to seek shelter with other dragons, & even unfriendly dragons will usually oblige.

Any ability based off of a spell uses the dragon's BC, even if that would normally be insufficient for the spell.

Black

Attribute modifiers: +2 Strength, -2 Constitution, +2 Intelligence, +4 Wisdom

Damaging breath: Negative line

Status breath: Fear cone

Bonus perception: Darksight (3sq per age category)

Special movement mode: Shadow Step (Su, standard, transfer from shadowy area to another, up to Agesq)

Class Skill: Stealth

Unique powers: Charm Reptile (Any reptilian within Agesq is charmed for Age days; will immune 1 day DC 10+½HD+Cha). Dark (Su, standard; Agesq radius becomes radiance 0 for Age rounds).


Blue

Attribute modifiers: +2 Strength, -2 Dexterity, +4 Wisdom, +2 Charisma

Damaging breath: Electricity cone

Status breath: Confusion line

Bonus perception: True Seeing (Su, standard; duration Instantaneous, while viewing within blindsense range)

Special movement mode: Burrow 6sq

Class Skill: Bluff

Unique powers: Alternate Form (Su, standard, Age/day; assume the form of any living creature for 1 hour, HD up to Age, & no larger than the dragon). Imitate Sound (Ex; the dragon can use Bluff to reproduce sounds or voices it has heard).


Brass

Status breath: Repulsion cone (a repulsed creature cannot use movement to get closer)

Bonus perception: Mindsense (Su, continuous; detect the presence of thinking minds within blindsense range, & may Concentrate to 'hear' telepathic messages they transmit)

Special movement mode: Water walk (Su, continuous)

Class Skill: Hypnosis

Unique powers: Alter Form (Su, standard, Age/day; assume the form of any Beast or Humanoid for 1 hour, HD up to Age, & no larger than the dragon). Telepathy (Su, continuous; out to 4sq per Age).


Copper

Green

Attribute modifiers: +4 Strength, +2 Constitution

Damaging breath: Acid line

Status breath: Rage cone

Bonus perception: Green sight (the dragon can see through natural plants as though they were not there, up to 3sq per age category)

Special movement mode: Leaf Dancing (Su, continuous; the dragon may use its landspeed to walk on natural plant life as though the plants could support its weight, suffers no impairment for moving through natural plant life, & takes no falling damage when landing on natural plants)

Class Skill: Combat Awareness

Unique powers: Alter Form (Su, standard, Age/day; assume the form of any living creature for 1 hour, HD up to Age, & no larger than the dragon). Camouflage (Su, standard; the dragon gains concealment for Age rounds).


Red

Bonus perception: Storm Sight (Su, continuous; fog & weather do not impair the dragon's Perception)

Special movement mode: Cloudwalk (Su, continuous; the dragon may use its landspeed on clouds as though they could support its weight, & take no falling damage for landing on clouds)

Class Skill: Bluff

Unique powers: Control Weather (Su, 1 minute, Age/day). Feather Fall (Su, immediate).


White

Attribute modifiers: +4 Strength, +2 Dexterity, +4 Constitution, -2 Intelligence, -2 Wisdom

Damaging breath: Cold cone

Status breath: Push line (use the dragon's Maneuver in place of saving throws)

Bonus perception: Ice Mirror (Su, standard; the dragon can view out of any ice covered surface within 3sq per age category)

Special movement mode: Icewaking (Su, continuous; the dragon is not impeded when moving on ice, & may use its landspeed to traverse vertical or inverted surfaces covered in ice)

Class Skill: Stealth

Unique powers: Freezing Fog (Su, standard; Agesq radius, Age rounds). Reflect Spell (Su, immediate, Age/day; when targeted by a spell, the dragon may make a Will save to reselect that targeting).
